Black Swan

Last saturday night, I ignored my fear of bed bugs and braved a filthy movie theatre with BFF in tow. Since we had always dreamed of being ballerinas (we probably have, but never really discussed this), we decided to see Black Swan. I had heard so much about it, from people that walked out because they were disgusted to those that absolutely loved it. After seeing it, I figured that it's one of those that you either love or hate. After a bit inner monologue on the drive home, I found that I absolutely adored it. It was totally unpretentious, well written and completely engaging. The soundtrack was also incredible, I'm still humming it. I can see though why some were offended by it. There was a lesbian love scene but it really was not as grotesque as some made it out to be. Infact, it was done in a way that showed as little as possible - anyway, that's besides the point. I was also told I shouldn't see it with my Mum, but she and I totally could have handled that haha.

Natalie Portman was incredible, when I heard she'd been nominated for all these awards I kinda just rolled my eyes - but she truly deserves any accolades for this - she was raw, convincing and maintains this haunting innocence throughout the whole film. You should really give the film a go, it was a lovely change from terrorist plots and action filled explosions. Ooh and guess what I am going as this Halloween - now all I have to do is convince S to be the white swan haha.
